Sun Island Eatery in Calgary

I was introduced to this gem about a year ago by a close friend and we wont go anywhere else. The chicken dishes are always all white meat. Service from the time of order to delivery is ALWAYS top notch and friendly. Our household favorite dish is the salt and pepper chicken as it is truly the best. I crave this alone!!

Really upset at the decline in the quality of service!!The guy who answered the phone this evening, puts me on hold and doesn’t even have any personality, he just tells me to hold and then drops the phone. He then takes me order, with ZERO customer service and rushes through my phone call so quickly that he forgot one of my dishes!! I like when Jenny answers the phone! She is so nice and so sweet. I called back to say that he forgot one of my dishes and his response was “I did not! I read back the order - don’t you remember?! Don’t you? “Luckily the owner came on the phone and apologized and offered to deliver my dish to the house, and I could still hear him in the background exclaiming that I didn’t order the food and I shouldn’t receive my chicken dish!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!Customer service goes a long way, and spending 1 or 2 extra minutes with someone can make all the difference in the world and give a restaurant a little thing called repeat business!!

Amazing food, one of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten at in the city.

Excellent wor won ton loaded with veggies, meat and great won tons. I especially liked the thin skined pork dumplings.

Are all these reviews fake or what? We just ordered from this place because of all the positive reviews. The food had a thicker layer of fryer batter on it then the beef or chicken it was frying. The Pepper Squid was nothing special. I won't be ordering again.

This is hands-down our favorite place. Everything on the menu is delicious however, the salt and pepper squid is made to perfection every time. I could eat it all day everyday!

My wife's favorite place for Chinese food. One thing I have against them is that their sauces are too sweet for my taste. Eg the ginger beef and others.

Great food and friendly staff. One dish we ordered was very late and showed up after we finished the other dishes - to be fair it was a very busy time to be there and a complicated dish to make - the owner gave us the dish to take home at no charge!

Absolutely delicious and excellent service. The staff are lovely, the place is neat and tidy, and the food is awesome. Servings are huge so yes it's expensive but for the amount of food you get it's 100% reasonable.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in SE Calgary. Good service and food is delicious!Pork fried rice is the best in the city!!! Try a variety of dishes...all super tasty and they give such massive portions!!!!! Love it!

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this little restaurant. I came here with my bf, who used to visit this place in his high school days and claims it has the best ginger beef in town (which I’ve only had once before in my life and wasn’t particularly fond of). Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Their shanghai noodles were excellent and their ginger beef, although still not my thing, was delicious. Would definitely come back!

Average westernized Chinese kitchen, maybe a tad below average. Dry ginger beef, some dishes are quite bland. Ensure you have a lot of water handy as you will be thirsty - msg/salt effect; way too much. Disappointed.

Really tasty food. It was ready to go when promised (I ordered pick up) and really quite reasonably priced. Friendly people too. A great experience as I've not ordered Chinese food for a long time and was not disappointed by any part of the experience.

The food was average quality and expensive. The kind you get at any low-grade chinese restaurant in Calgary except it costs more. The server was rude and arrogant forgetting part of our order, then lied to us saying we didn't order it. Unbelievable! She then came back later and apologized and said it was her fault. Half our meal was cold by the time we had everything and we were not offered a discount because of her mistake. I will never eat here again and the owner should consider getting better wait staff.

All the staff (especially Jenny) are just awesome. What a wonderful customer service ethic - you just don't find this anywhere. The food as well is a step above the rest - can't say enough :)

I've been going here since I was a child. This is what Chinese food should taste like. The "Lunchbox" is delicious and very good price. Ginger Beef is so good, you will want more. Jenny at the front is a sweetheart, and Tim is a master Chef! Would recommend to anyone even considering this place.

This is the best place in town! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I was in there for about 45 mins and 3 people came in with their order already waiting at the front for them just because the owner saw them as they were parking and knew who they were. You can tell they value their customers and have a lot of returning customers. 5 stars from me.

Great food, fast and friendly service. One of the best places in town for Asian food. Try their black pepper and honey beef. It's the best Chinese dish I've ever had and everyone I have brought to this place loved it. Their spring rolls are great, too. Another winner is the salt & pepper squid. It's just perfect! The lady who waits the tables is very nice and service from her is great. The place can be very busy sometimes, when kids from the nearby school come to get something.

Best Chinese food in Calgary's deep South. The consistency is very good and fresh. They tend to be very busy on the weekends so order early or you may be waiting longer than other places. I recommend picking it up for there is a discount and quicker.

Delicious food and we have leftovers for at least 2 days ! Great value and heaping portions. Was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Best sweet and sour pork I've ever had! Thanks!
